Quitting Smoking – The Downside Of Hypnosis

Hypnosis has been cited in science journals as the most successful way to quit smoking, yet some people remained concerned about the perceived downside of being hypnotised.

One of the most common questions I'm asked is whether I will make them cluck like a chicken. While this is often asked in jest, it can mask an underlining concern that their mind may be controlled in some way.

This is a natural worry, because most people have been exposed to television and stage hypnosis, and a lot of weird ideas, thoughts of hypnotists having near super powers.

But if such powers exist then why do not we see headlines, stating that evil hypnotists are creating armies of zombies committing crimes.

I have to laugh because I could not even hypnotize my son to empty the dishwasher without being told to.

And there is a simple reason why I could not, it's not because I'm a rubbish hypnotist, it's because of a couple of simple rules.

  1. You can not make someone do something they do not want to do.
  2. No one will act on a suggestion that goes against their moral code.

Hypnosis is successful only when a person wants a change in their lives, gives permission for that change to occur in hypnosis and is prepared to fully participate.

You may ask, how does it work when a hypnotist just grabs someone and says the magic words “sleep” and they slip forward. This is known as a rapid induction and some people are susceptible to this kind of instant hypnosis.

It is literally a shock to the system, not unlike, when someone has heard some bad news or been in an accident and just appears stunned. But the same two rules still apply.

In the case of an accident victim it's important to give simple suggestions of comfort.

Years ago I attended the funeral of a friend, he was thirty, died suddenly leaving behind a wife and two young children. It was such a sad event that I left in a kind of hypnotic state. At some point I found myself in a roadhouse cafe putting salt in my coffee.

At that time I snapped out of this state, and felt slightly alarmed that I had driven so far like this. Quite driving is often an unconscious action so my fellow travelers were perfectly safe.

So now you can relax, play the hypnosis game, and allow your practitioner to assist you to become a non smoker for life.

Quit Smoking – Why Do Some Return After Years

Hi Future Non Smoker

Some of my first time clients tell me they have taken up smoking after as long as twenty years. On one level, it defies belief, but there are two understandable underlying reasons.

1. Humans have poor and selective memories. When you quit in just a few months, you will forget about waking up coughing, the shortness of breath climbing the stairs, the thousands of dollars spent each year, the myriad of health risks etc.

The simple solution is to watch the quit ads on television, and to remind yourself of the bad feelings every time you see someone smoking.

Plus over time you can selectively filter out all the downsides of smoking and allow only those memories of special times and events and people who were connected to you smoking. If you allow this thinking to creep in then the feelings of smoking will slowly creep back in.

Again when you see smokers, remind yourself of the benefits of being free from the deadly habit of smoking.

2. If you smoke again because of a big crisis in your life, then there are two issues. Firstly it's a sign that your unconscious mind is still holding emotional connections to smoking. These feelings may have been buried deep through willpower but the stress has unleashed them.

This brings back the old beliefs that smoking somehow helps stress. Which of course is a complete mistake.

Secondly, you now have two issues to deal with. Your crisis problem, and now your smoking. That's right because nicotine is a stress on your system it will only add to your woes. And then soon as the habit reasserts itself you will have the regret and anger at yourself for starting this stupid dangerous habit.

And take it from me you will feel stupid, and angry but never the less you will be smoking. And you will regret it.

If you smoke again just because of some reunion with smokers, then what on earth were you thinking about, you simply allowed all those old problems to be put aside for the sake of bonding over some deadly chemicals. This may upset you, but you know it's true, do not you!

The good news for you is that there is a solution which can eliminate all of these issues. Hypnosis completely separates you from the desires and habits of smoking, and allows you to be free from this safe in the knowledge that the sins will not return.

Quit Smoking – Nicotine Replacement Therapy – Anyone For A Dose Of Pesticide?

The first stop for most smokers in their quest to quit is Nicotine replacement therapy. There are gums and patches of many differenting strengths, but they have one thing in common. They do not work.

Hundreds of millions of dollars are spent every year by desperate smokers. Many try them over and over again in vain. A testimony to their effectiveness is the fact that many of my clients admit to smoking while wearing patches.

So if nicotine was the big addiction then how could someone still smoke while having plastered patches over their shoulders, and certainly if absorbing pesticide (nicotine) into your skin or mouth was the answer then smokers of the world would be able to easily quit their habit .

So why is it so popular? The number one reason is an incredibly successful long term marketing campaign by pharmaceutical companies which was so clever that they drawn in government health campaigns and the medical profession.

So how can they claim success for nicotine replacement therapy? Picture these tow scenarios.

1. You buy your patches, and take them home, determined to succeed, maybe there are other smokers there, maybe you sit in your favorite smoking spot, or maybe you have had a stressful day.

You put your patches on, and make a coffee or have a beer to relax. Things you normally do with a smoke. You go to work and watch the smokers file out at morning tea. After a day or two you give in and bum a smoke. The success rate for this scenario is rated between 0% and 2%. Macquarie University study simply stated that it does not work. In the UK under the freedom of information act they disclosed a 2% success.

2. You answer an advertisement for a university controlled quit smoking study. You are inducted into the process with a group of people. Given free patches and instrucated in their use.

You return periodically for follow ups, and your progress is monitored. The success in this environment is cited as 23%. So why the difference? It's because you are primed to succeed.

In such an environment corn flakes would probably be just as successful. What is curious is that even in a supportive situation the result is still on the low side.

One problem with all of the various types of replacement is that they can not address the ingrained triggers of a smoking life time, and of course attempting to quit by absorbing a poison used as a pesticide.

How to Quit Smoking When You’ve Tried Everything – An Affirmative Approach

I'm a smoker !! A chain smoker, an active smoker and definitely a passive smoker; I've tried quitting smoking but I always end up with that one gust of smoke that makes me feel relieved and good to go. I believe that giving up smoking is the easiest thing to do in the world; and that I feel because I've done it a great number of times. While it's just not me, but a huge number of people out there, you've done almost everything to quit smoking.

We're all aware how dangerous this addiction can be, how it can be the major cause of lung cancer, heart diseases, stroke and extremely death. If you've been smoking for several years now you might still feel the difficulty to stop smoking but emotional freedom is the only thing that you're actually looking for. If you're a smoker and like many of us you've tried too many things but have not really been successful then these few techniques might just help you. Here's a short article that'll help you make your mind one last time and stop smoking cigarettes forever !!!

1) Neuro Linguistic Programming: NLP is a less heard of term but if you're keen to stop smoking your heart out then there's nothing better than this. It is the practice of understanding how people organize their thinking abilities, feelings, language and behavior. Training in Neuro Linguistic Programming is performed to let people overcome the current barriers that they face in their confidence and various other blockages that have previously kept them away from learning and achieving goals. The key to NLP lies in how the person filters or perceives information that is absorbed through five body sense.

• Neuro: Each individual has established his own unique mental filtering system for processing the millions of bits of data that being absorbed through the senses.

• Linguistic: We then assign personal meaning to the information being received from the world outside.

• Programming: The process of behavioral response that occurs as a result of neurological filtering processes and the consequent linguistic map.

2) Hypnotherapy: The form of psychotherapy that is used to create a subconscious change in a patient to perform in a new condition and form entirely new thoughts, responses, behavior and feelings is referred to as hypnotherapy and this is a subject that I underaken under the category of Hypnosis.

However the actual case with hypnosis is that it is misunderstood by a majority of people because peoples' experiences are usually based on stage shows or television ideas. The truth is completely opposed to what they've known for a very long time. It is a tremendously simple thing and anyone can participate as long as they're willing to.

This willingness to be undergoing hypnotherapy requires two things:

• A clear commitment to quit, for your own self and never for anyone else.

• A clear understanding that you can not be made to do anything that you're not willing to do. This realization alone is sufficient to take all the stress out of you.

The duo is a proven way to eliminate the various patterns of thinking that have long kept you chained to the habit of smoking. They can together release the benefits that you have benign longing for so long and the new feeling is all about contentment and the belief that everything that's happening in your life is good and you need not to smoke to live life happily.

Smoking in Movies

I recently saw the movie Big Eyes and while I thought that this movie overall was a good movie I was extremely disgusted with the non-stop depiction of smoking in this movie, mostly by the actor character Amy.

Why do we still live in a world where we allow tobacco companies to pay movie production companies money to show people smoking? Of course this movie was set in the 1960's where people smoked much more often than they do today, but why show smoking in movies? There is no reason for this at all, and the extent that they showed all this smoking in this movie was way out of proportion that would ever be considered necessary to show an accurate depiction of life at that time.

Smoking is a horrible habit. Smoking will give you heart disease and any number of cancers, the worse being lung cancer. Smoking should be discouraged and right now we should be at least 10 years past from any new movie showing any character smoking in any scene in any movie.

This continuing outrage of showing smoking in movies has been going on for many years and I for one am very sick of it. My mother currently has lung cancer due to her many years of smoking which always worried all of us. In 2009 Patrick Swayze died of pancreatic cancer due to his many years of smoking. Smoking will kill you and it's only a matter of time. Please can we get past this horror of showing smoking in movies?

While watching the movie Big Eyes I actually was yelling out loud at the movie screen because there was nobody else in the theater watching this movie at 10:00 am on a Saturday morning. I thought the movie was pretty good and it was a true story of another artist blatantly taking credit for his wife's paintings but with all that horrible smoking, for me, it really reduced how much I liked this movie a great deal. I am also surprised at actors like Amy Adams who agree to smoke so often in movies, especially this one. I am sure this is one of the main decisions that a producer has to make to generate the revenue that they need to make a movie, but at some point there has to be some common sense or decency to not show this horrible habit so often in movies today. Will this trend ever change? Will a law ever be passed? I sure hope so for all our sakes.

Quitting Smoking – When Boredom Is A Big Problem

Every smoker has their triggers, some are routine, but some are a big deal. Boredom is not just a casual problem it can be a significant stress and therefore an important issue to address for some people to quit smoking.

For some people their boredom represents a major gap in their lives which they are filling with smoking. Here's the problem, take away the smokers and the void seems like too much to fill. For the majority of smokers this is easily deal with hypnosis.

Some people however are going to need to take specific action to fill those gaps in their lives, at least for a couple of weeks until they integrate being a non smoker into their life.

It may mean finally following through on a plan that you have thought about for a while, volunteering, extra work, exercise etc. Whatever it is it will simply have to keep you occupied, during those void times.

One client filled her long periods of boredom with long phone calls. The problem was, she connected the phone to smoking. So she needed another strategy to manage the short term. She also wanted to lose weight so we made an agreement that during the day when she was bored, that she would walk around her large yard while on the phone.

Another decided to launch the home business she had been planning for ages. These strategies saved the day.

When you consider this carefully you may realize that some of your triggers may represent problems in your life that may need addressing.

Problems which are not solved by smoking, and that the longer you hide behind the smokers the worse the problem is likely to get, or at best it just ticks alone, making you miserable and you just keep smoking to try and feel better, while all along you are just making things worse.

This may sound overly dramatic, but quitting smoking is not like quitting peanuts or candy, it's about saving your life, about reclaiming over a decade of your life and saving you potentially decades of poor health leading to severe health life limitations. Not to mention wasting a fortune.

So for most of you, hypnosis will solve your smoking issues, quickly and simply, but for some of you taking a good look at your life, and implementing some strategies to fill those gaps, then adding hypnosis into the mix will not only free you from the chains of cigarettes but open up your life to new wonderful possibilities.

Quitting Smoking – Hypnosis Is Not Just A Party Trick

Over the past 200 years hypnosis or Mesmerism has been used to entertain and at times frighten people. But with the use of hypnosis for quitting smoking, weight loss, pain control, surgery and child birth to name a few, the field of medical hypnosis has gained main stream acceptance.

Yet for most people their only experience is stage shows or television, yet they do not even realize that they have been in hypnotic trances hundreds of times.

The beauty of television is that anything can appear real. I cringe sometimes when I see the terrible attempts at hypnotic therapy. It's like a doctor watching a medical show which gets the technical details all wrong.

Stage shows are fun but it's more about performance than hypnosis. The people chosen are extroverts, probably full of alcohol and up for fun. The nervous person in the back row would never be chosen, for the simple reason, that you can not make someone do something hey do not want to do.

We all have been in hundreds or perhaps thousands of hypnotic trances. Every time we focus intentionally, such as driving, watching television, a computer screen, reading or in the old days of rote learning at school. Chanting and repeated prayer also creates a trance state.

In this natural state we can easily take on new ideas, but in many of those above it's about getting you to buy products.

In the therapeutic hypnosis, we have a single goal, to help you make the changes which you desire. All it takes is your permission to be hypnotised and your commitment to change.

Some people believe they can not be hypnotized, even though they have never attempted it. This idea is usually a fear of the unknown. Or a belief that they are too strong to allow hypnosis. If that is your belief then that's your business, but you are missing out on a powerful opportunity for change.

One thing that can help is the knowledge that it is not your therapist who hypnosis you. It is you. All hypnosis is self hypnosis, your therapist simply guided you into the process, because they know how.

You are not mentally weak, you are not being overpowered, your mind is not being controlled by someone else, you are simply participating in a natural process which can easily and gently allow you to make positive changes in your life. And once you have experienced this you will want to use it for all kinds of problems in your life.

Things to Do to Forget Smoking Without Gaining Weight

Quitting smoking often results to psychological side effects. It is natural for the body to find a replacement for something it used to have in order to suffice psychological desires. Craving for the habit is the initial effect of quitting smoking. With our determination to avoid it, we tend to crave for something else – in most cases, food. In effect, we tend to oveat until we realize that we are gaining so much weight. This happens due to the biological signal that our body sends to our brain telling it when to stop eating.

Quitting smoking is indeed a challenge for most people since it has been part of the routine. Simply follow these steps to help you out:

Avoid the craving to smoke

Instead of eating, get involve in physical activities such as regular exercise and work outs. Find a companion during these activities. The companionship will act as support mechanism that will make you enjoy your new found habit. By taking on physical activities, not only will you compensate the cravings for a habit but more importantly, your body will be able to repair itself making up for the time it was abused by smoking. You will start to experience the noticeable energy when you start to breathe smoothly as a result of quitting smoking. Thus, the metabolic boost that you think was helpful in weight reduction during the time you were smoking will be replaced by physical activities.

Avoid craving for food

The more we deprive ourselves from eating as a form of replacement of smoking habit, the more we overeat. This can be due to eating the usual three heavy meals – heavy breakfast, semi-heavy lunch and sumptuous dinner. It is recommended to eat frequent small meal instead of the usual heavy meals. Especially if the foods are blended with the appropriate amount of calories, it will give the body positive effect in dieting. The body will get use to burning calories which will result in consistent metabolism.

Try some supplements

Quitting Smoking – The Circle Of Cynicism

In a recent online article I read that a large North American Tobacco had also moved into the Nicotine replacement Business. To use a marketing term they have closed the back door. Locking their customers into their product cycle.

People smoke, then they decide to quit, and turn to nicotine replacement, which has been proved to be of little effect beyond the place effect in closed door studies, and close to zero in real world studies.

Then they start smoking again, trying several times on average before they manage to quit. In many instances it's because they become ill in some form, such as a heart attack or emphysema. It does not take a brain surgeon to see the only interest this company has is making profits.

This is of course a reasonable goal for a business but a highly cynical business model at best. I guess no one would have ever accused a cigarette company of ethical behavior.

They are not the only ones of course. A few years ago it was announced that the Australian future fund, which is designed to provide savings in the years ahead was investing in cigarette companies. Talk about blatant hypocrisy.

Recent three dollar a packet price rises in Australia will prove to be an excellent way to top up the government coffers.

Even our quit smoking advertisements which focus on telling people how hard it is to quit, and that they have to keep trying until they succeed is just an exercise in priming their negative beliefs about their ability to quit.

Marketers using MRI technology have proven that grisly images on cigarette packets cause people to think about smoking.

My clients have told me many times that the television ads showing sick smokers make them want to light up straight away.

So what is going on? I believe it's a combination of well intentioned, poorly implemented quit programs with a touch of cynical money grabbing.

Smokers know the truth. These programs and price increases have little effect. It's like being bullied by permissions to change. Most people will rail against such pressure.

Smokers who have quit all have one thing in common. They have made the decision to quit. They have decided when that would happen. It was then bought a full commitment to stopping. And especially for those who choose hypnosis, they were surprised how easy it was for them to quit, and to remain a non smoker for life.

Quitting Smoking – $3 A Pack Price Rise, Is That Enough?

The first of September 2014 in Australia saw another rise in the price of cigarettes. This time $ 3 a pack and there will be even greater rises over the next four years. The price now is $ 20 to $ 25 per pack. This translates as a minimum of $ 1 per cigarette for even the cheapest smoke.

In four years time the tax alone for a 20 a day smoker will be $ 7300!

To a non smoker this sounds like the last straw, after all who would possibly spend $ 7000 a year on average on a dirty habit with the only exit being bad at least.

On that same day my first clients were a couple who were spending $ 12,500 a year between them, and that was before the price increase. The woman was thinking about how the extra cash would improve their lives, but the guy admitted that even though they could not afford it, money was not a motivating factor in there quitting.

This first days of more expensive smokers has seen an increase of bookings, but that spike will dip again as smokers just absorb the price rise.

What is gained is a few extra people who quit, probably those who were ready anyway. Of course if just one life is saved it's all worth it. But, mostly the effect is that for those who can least afford it will be put under even greater financial pressure.

Some would say it's a cynical exercise for a government that professes to want people to quit, that will enjoy the benefits of raising up to an extra $ 9,000,000 per week. Raising the collected taxes to over a billion dollars per year. Wow, what government would really want to give that up!

I'm sure there are those who really do care. Much of this money is poured into the health care system to support ill and dying smokers. The circle goes around and around, with no winners.

I must have heard it said hundreds of times that the cost is not a factor. And this will be true for many of you living outside of Australia where cigarettes are far less expensive.

Maybe there will come a time when nobody smokers, and not because they all died from lung cancer, but that will be a long long way off.

You can absorb the cost but if this is too much for you, in addition to all the other reasons you have for quitting your best bet is to book a quit smoking hypnosis as soon as possible.

Stop Smoking With The Easy EFT Tapping

Stopping smoking is not normally an easy task for most of us mere mortals. And I am sure Superman does not smoke and has there ever never had the disappointment of trying then starting again. Think about it this way, though; most smokers stop every day, when they are sleep. So it is possible.

If you are thinking of quitting, have a look at these tips, and see how you feel.

Smoking itself is not because of lack of willpower. You have the willpower to read this article. So you have the willpower to try different ways of quitting until you stop smoking for good.

You can set a stop smoking date and stick to it. Alternatively, you can reduce by 1-5 cigarettes a week and stop more gradually. Whiche strategy strategy works best for you is fine.

Taking nicotine in any other form is still being added to it. Do not fool yourself that you have stopped if you have merely switched addictions or habits.

If you worry about weight gain, then you are certainly using the cigarettes as an appetite suppressant. This is where a method like EFT can help. EFT goes to the roots of why there is a tension to overeat, and removes those feelings from your mind-body. Then you no longer need to smoke to control your weight.

If you worry about cravings or a smoking desire, EFT is the easiest way I know of for releasing them on minutes. It usually takes less time to release a smoking craving with EFT than it actually takes to smoke a cigarette. So you can see why EFT makes sense.

And if you have stopped before but become moody or irritable, EFT is great for that. With EFT, we say that the moodiness or irritability was self-medicated away by the smoking. So if you stop smoking without releasing the underling uncomfortable emotions, then they simply make themselves known. It is better to use EFT for those feelings before stopping smoking. Then quitting should be easy.

EFT stands for Emotional Freedom Techniques and is the most effective long-term results method that I know of for giving up smoking. Otherwise known as Tapping, EFT is a specific combination of self-applied easy acupressure and specific releasing word. This combination is what makes EFT so powerful.

Maybe you can write a list of what you hope to achieve when you stop smoking. Make a list of all the positives. Then armed with that list, go seek out a good Stop Smoking EFT book, program, or practitioner. Enjoy your freedom!

The Effect of Cigarette Smoke No One Knows About

Everybody and their mother know that cigarette smoke is harmful. In fact, it's the leading cause of preventable death in the United States. There are 480,000 deaths a year that occurs from cancer, respiratory disease, vascular disease and various other types of aliments as a result of cigarette smoke (Tobacco-Related Mortality). The killers in cigarette smoke come from the variety of perilous chemicals – from tar to carbon monoxide – that are all rolled into a single cigarette (What's in a Cigarette?). It's this concoction of chemicals that when lit, makes cigarette smoke so substantially harmful to our bodies.

These unsettling facts about cigarette smoke are well-known by everyone, but what the majority of people do not know is the direct impact that cigarette smoke has on the cells of the respiratory system. That is, it literally changes the shape and structure of the cell. It's not the positive type of change like when an exercise muscle undergoes hypertrophy and increases mass, but more like turning a square cell into a flat egg-shaped cell.

When cigarette smoke is inhaled it cruises along the respiratory tract until it reaches the lungs, and then gets exhaled out. Inside your respiratory tract is a variety of cells which when hit with cigarette smoke repeatedly over time, can undergo – in this case – a nasty process called metaplasia.

Metaplasia is a process in the body that replicates a certain type of cell into another more useful type. This absolutely changes the structure and function of the cell. It can occur naturally and as a positive process, such as in cartilage turning into bone through ossification, or it can occur abnormally with negative impacts through stress or toxic repeated stimuli.

The metaplasia of the respiratory tract cells as you may guess, is negative. The repeated intake of cigarette smoke on the respiratory tract can change the cells from a square-shaped cell – called columnar- with cilia (little hairs that help trap dust) to squamous shaped (which resembles a fried egg) without any cilia. To get a better picture of what the cells in the respiratory tract can turn into, squamous shaped cells are what make up the outer part of the epidermis. To picture the process of squamous metaplasia, imagine a row of sturdy strong cinderblocks protecting the floor benefit it. Now imagine over time with repeated intake of harmful substances those cinderblocks turn into a pile of dough. Well, with the repeated exposure to cigarette smoke, that's what can happen inside the respiratory system.

Squamous metaplasia from tobacco smoke affects multiple parts of the respiratory system including the cells in the pharynx and the bronchus. The damage does not just stop there either: squamous metaplasia is directly associated with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease – COPD – which is a very concern topic these days.

Aside from the well-known consequences from smoking, like cancer, vascular diseases, association with miscarriages, impotence, macular degeneration, etc., one of cigarettes most deadly side effects is chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). COPD is a progressive disease that makes breathing difficult and can cause what's commonly known as 'smokers cough'. It is the third leading cause of death in the United States and is directly associated with smoking tobacco products (“Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) Fact Sheet”).

Oddly enough, squamous metaplasia is actually one of the human body's many defense mechanisms when it comes to damage from cigarette smoke. The human body is always trying to restore balance within itself and when it comes to damage from tobacco smoke, changing the shape and function of its cells is a necessity to keep the barrier in the respiratory tract still useful (Bolton). Sadly though, the complications do not end with just changing the shape of the cells. Up to a certain point, this process is reversible, but if the harmful stimulus is not removed this can reversibility can change (ELSEVIER) – and worse – become cancerous.

It is accepted everywhere that cigarettes have a damaging effect on the human body. Although that fact is known, not everyone knows some of the exact effects cigarette smoke has. Squamous metaplasia is one of those effects. Through changing the shape and function of the cell, squamous metaplasia silently affects the cells of the respiratory tract. So closely associated with COPD, squamous metaplasia is not only a nasty result of cigarette smoke but a deadly one as well.

Be honest … in your vivid dream you just had about your perfect life … did it include smoking? If not … keep reading. You just might be ready to put them out for good.

Stop and think about the obstacles you have created which are keeping you from living your dreams. It's easy to get discouraged or feel overwhelmed as you face your weaknesses but these self-imposed roadblocks are what keep you shut out from what you want and need. Try looking at it this way … keep your focus on the prize, in this case your dreams, while working on dismantling your obstacles one by one, and remember … it's always the right time to begin. The only person you need to convince is yourself.

Now I submit to you, your # 1 obstacle which keeps you from living the joy of your dreams is that dirty little cigarette demanding to be smoked. It's time to take the power back! It's time to say no! I kicked its butt years ago … and you will too. I assure you, if you make this happen, you will live as you never have before … with the joy of your dreams even better than you imagined.

With that being said, I confess I once was as hardheaded and fearful about quitting smoking as you may be today. The truth is I failed countless times before I finally figured it out. In preparing this piece, I spent a lot of time trying to relive those struggles and triumphs which finally lead me to the path of victory. In doing so, I recalled that first hurdle which in fact has not changed, and never will … the smoker has to realize on his own that he's had enough, and until that happens, there is nothing anyone can do or say say to get through his force field of denial. But here's the good news. This printed page is not going anywhere. When the student is ready, the teacher will appear … BUT NOT ONE SECOND BEFORE.

How to Quit Smoking With Hypnotism

Cigarette smoking is an addiction and because of this fact, quitting is easier said than done.

According to Action on Smoking and Health, 10 million adults in Great Britain are smokers. Two thirds of those smokers started before the age of 18. Nearly two thirds of the current smokers would like to quit but only 22 per cent of the women and 27 per cent of the men have managed to do so.

October marks the official beginning of the annual Stoptoper campaign. Quitting for a full month may be the perfect opportunity to drop the bad habit for a lifetime. Stop smoking hypnotherapy may be the right possibility for you. Here's everything you need to know about how to stop smoking with hypnosis.

How does It Work?

Many smokers need just a single hypnotherapy session to get on the road to quitting. Follow-up sessions will typically be needed to extend the longevity of the results and to help the former smoker lead a happy, cigarette-free life for years and years to come.

After initial assessment, a therapist will put you in the state of hypnosis. This is when the real work begins. For many smokers, lighting up a cigarette is associated with pleasurable experiences. These experiences could include having an aromatic cup of coffee, ending a delicious meal or even intimate with a partner. The job of the therapist is to “break” these positive associations.

Sometimes, smokers who undergo stop smoking hypnotherapy will have these positive associations replaced with facts about smoking – that it ruins health, that it makes clothes smell bad and that second hand smoke is a real danger for loved ones. These new sub-conscious patterns help patients overcome the addiction and kick the bad habit with relative ease.

Additional Benefits

Are you still wondering about how to stop smoking with hypnosis? Talking to a therapist and getting all of your questions answered is going to put your mind at ease. There's no harm in giving the technique a try, even if you're skeptical about it.

When performed by an experienced therapist, hypnosis can have a very high success rate. Some reports suggest that nearly 80 per cent of the smokers that have tried hypnotherapy have managed to quit.

Hypnosis is very effective because it simplifies change and introducing healthy settings to your lifestyle. It has nothing to do with being subconsciously “forced” into doing something that you do not want to do. Hypnotherapy is all about breaking destructive patterns of behavior that have been linked to something positive and desirable.

Hypnotherapy for smokers is safe, efficient and affordable. Nicotine addiction can be an extreme challenge and many find it impossible to quit cold turkey. If you have tried other methods and you have failed, the time may be right to have a hypnotherapy session. Going through the experience is the best way to figure out whether it's the perfect method to quit and to enjoy a cigarette-free life.
